Bryan Stow has emergency surgeryThe San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten at Dodger Stadium on Opening Day underwent emergency surgery on Monday, according to the family's website.
The family said Bryan Stow had the surgery at a San Francisco area hospital "due to massive amounts of fluid building up that caused a 30 second seizure."
"Dr. (Geoff) Manley removed the bone flap that was put in on Friday and he found some sort of growth he had never seen before," the family wrote. "The growth was removed and a filter put in to help drain the fluid from his head."
The family added that Stow slightly opened his right eye by the end of Monday.
Stow, a Santa Cruz paramedic and father of two, was wearing Giants apparel at the March 31 game. Police said that after the game, two men attacked Stow in the stadium parking lot. He was knocked down, beaten and left in critical condition with head injuries.
In late June, doctors announced Stow's condition had been upgraded to serious but his prospects of recovery are uncertain.
Police arrested Giovanni Ramirez, the primary suspect in the beating, in late May. Ramirez has not been charged in the beating and remains in jail on a parole violation.
The have not identified a second attacker and a woman suspected of driving the pair from the scene.
